Why elastic laces belong in everyday shoes

Elastic laces for sneakers do one simple thing: you lace the shoe once, tie one bow, and from then on the shoe goes on and off like a slip-on. No tying, no untying, no loose ends. Stretchlace flat laces look like the laces that came with the shoe, so nobody can tell the difference until they see you step in without bending down. The stretch also gives with your foot through the day instead of digging in, which is why people who try them for convenience keep them for comfort. Any lace-up sneaker or casual shoe with eyelets works, for adults and kids, from a pair of Vans to a pair of walking shoes.

Sizing sneakers

Most adult sneakers take 40 to 47 inches: six eyelets, 40 or 45; seven or eight, 45 to 55. Low-tops with five eyelets take 35 or 40. Measure one of your current laces to be sure. See Sizing Help.

Questions we get

Which lace for sneakers, flat or round?

Flat for most sneakers and casual shoes, it matches the lace that came in the shoe. Round for shoes with small round eyelets like Converse, boat shoes and chukkas. Model-specific picks are on the shoe brand pages.

What length do I need?

Measure one of the laces in the shoe and match it to our lengths: 24, 30, 35, 40, 45, 47, 55, 63 or 72 inches. Can't get it out? Count the eyelet pairs and use the size guide or the length chart. Never shorter than the original.

Do they come untied?

Not when the fit is right: tie one taut bow with the ends sitting on top of the foot, not touching the ground. Fit tips in the install and fit FAQ. And if a bow ever does work loose, which we don't expect, snap a knot bow clip over it and it stays tied for good.

How do I install them?

Lace them like normal laces with your foot in the shoe, keep them flat, tie one bow, done. Step by step in the install and fit FAQ.
